How To Clean Marble
We Reconmand Using The Burnishing System
Burnishing is recommended as it will last longer. Some restorers will apply “Surface Finishes” these will walk off over time and build up at the edges of the floor, and can break down over short time periods.
For protection against stain penetrating seals are best.

Marble
When looking at model homes, prospective owners marvel over the bathrooms, entry ways and floors done in marble. They are gorgeous, shiny and look pristine. Neither natural nor man-made materials can compete with marble’s luxurious design and physique. Even though marble is a stone, it is not as thick or hard as granite. This surface will be durable and last a long time, but its porous nature makes it pone to stains. Acidic solutions, such as juice, wine and coffee are especially known to stain, etch, or dull the polish fairly easily, even if the marble is sealed. Because of this tendency to stain, marble used to only be reserved for table tops, powder bathrooms, showers and counter tops. However, many people now are choosing marble tiles for their kitchens, bathrooms and pathways.
Therefore, the need for cleaning products made specifically for marble tiles has increased. Manufacturers have answered this need with many products that are safe and effective on marble. So with consistent maintenance, it’s easy to clean marble tiles. Keeping your marble tiles free from everyday dirt and grime will have it sparkling and in supreme condition. The right care of your marble floor will lessen the risk of harm and extend its life.
Be sure to vacuum or sweep with a microfiber dust broom before mopping. Pulling up all the dust each time before you mop will avoid scratches. Don’t forget that loose dirt from people’s shoes and feet can easily be ground into your marble floor. This debris will scratch the marble if it’s left on the surface for very long.
When mopping, use only warm water on marble floors. Vinegar contains mild acid so it will spoil marble surfaces. The best way to clean a marble floor is using a soft cloth or large towel dipped in fairly hot water. Be sure to wring out the towel to get out all excess moisture. If you prefer a dust mop, squeeze it out extremely well also. One of the most important factors in caring for a marble floor is to not leave water on it for very long. Immediately after mopping, take a dry towel over the whole floor or it will spot easily.
It’s also good to note that marble has a somewhat unstable chemical mixture which makes it very delicate. Calcium carbonate, the main component of marble, immediately and severely reacts with any kind of acid, which gives you pits and scares in your floor.
If you want to give maximum protection to your floor, you can add a light coat of wax. Just remember, though, that marble will not appear shinier from wax than if it was left alone. Keep in mind that marble is known to fade over the years. However, this does not mean you will lose the inborn and equally elegant beauty of your marble floor. You can bring the luster back to life using a polisher if you want to return your marble floor to its initial shine.
